Good to know
FAQ & house rules
Everything you need to know before your first visit: what to bring, how it works, and how we keep the space comfortable for everyone.
Before you arrive
What should I bring?
A swimsuit and a water bottle to stay hydrated (no glass, please). Slippers are provided, and you can bring your own towels or rent two towels for $5. We provide RFID lockers with wristbands for your belongings.
Is there an age requirement?
Guests must be 16 or older. Guests 16–17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian on-site for the full visit.
A note on heat for younger guests: Teens' bodies can heat up faster and cool down more slowly than adults'. We ask younger guests to keep sauna and steam rounds shorter, drink plenty of water, and step out right away if they feel dizzy, lightheaded, or unwell. Parents and guardians are responsible for keeping an eye on their teen throughout the visit.
Do I need a reservation?
Once we're open, we recommend booking ahead, especially on evenings and weekends, since space is limited. Walk-ins are welcome when we have capacity. If your preferred time is fully booked, you can join the waitlist and we'll let you know if a spot opens up.
Do I need a credit card to book?
Yes. A credit card is required to hold every reservation, even if you're paying with a gift card, membership, or visit pack. It's kept on file only in case our cancellation policy applies.
Can I book Samsara for a private event?
Yes. The whole bathhouse can be reserved for private gatherings like birthdays, bridal parties, corporate retreats, and celebrations. Private buyouts are available on Wednesdays, when we're closed to the public. Reach out through our Visit Us page and we'll help you plan it.
Is Samsara accessible?
Yes. Samsara was built so every body can enjoy the full circuit. The thermal pool, sauna, steam room, and cold plunge are all designed to ADA standards, and both pools have a transfer wall that makes getting in and out easier for guests who use a wheelchair or have limited mobility. If you'd like any extra support during your visit, just let our team know when you check in.
Is Samsara co-ed?
Yes. Samsara is a co-ed, body-positive space where everyone is welcome.
Is Samsara safe during pregnancy or with health conditions?
Heat and cold can be wonderfully restorative, but they also ask a lot of the body, so contrast therapy isn't the right fit for everyone. If you're pregnant, have a heart or blood pressure condition, are recovering from surgery or injury, or take medication that affects how your body handles heat, please talk with your doctor before your visit.
Your wellbeing comes first. See our Health Disclosure page for the full list of conditions we ask guests to be mindful of.
During your visit
What are the hygiene rules?
Clean water and clean spaces are shared by everyone, so these rules are required for every guest, every visit:
- Shower before you enter the thermal pool, sauna, steam room, or cold plunge.
- Swimsuits are required at all times in shared areas.
- Always sit or lie on a towel in the sauna and steam room.
- No lotions, oils, or makeup in the pools. Please remove them in the shower first.
- No shaving, grooming, or scrubbing. Exfoliation happens only during the hammam scrub.
- No outside shoes past the locker room. Bring a pair of indoor-only shoes, or use the clean slippers we provide.
- Stay home if you're unwell, including any contagious illness, open cuts or wounds, skin infections, or stomach illness in the past two weeks.
To keep Samsara clean and comfortable for everyone, guests who don't follow these rules may be asked to end their visit early.
When should I arrive?
Give yourself a little breathing room before you begin. Plan to be here 10–15 minutes ahead of your start time so a member of our team can check you in and show you around. If it's your first visit, aim for the full 15. You'll have time to settle into the changing room, leave your phone behind, and arrive in body and mind before you step into the heat.
Held up on the way? Don't worry, we'll still welcome you in. Your session keeps its original end time.
If you've booked a Turkish hammam scrub, plan to arrive with enough time to enjoy the thermal pool, sauna, or steam room beforehand. The scrub is at its best when your skin is warm and relaxed.
How long can I stay?
Each visit is up to two hours. There's no set schedule. Move between the thermal pool, sauna, steam room, and cold plunge in whatever order and rhythm feels right to you.
When your session ends, there's no need to rush: you have a 15-minute grace period to shower, change, and head out at an easy pace. If you'd like to stay longer than that, a $10 fee is added for each additional hour.
What's a good order to try the spaces in?
A common contrast therapy cycle: warm up in the thermal pool, move to the sauna or steam room, then take a short cold plunge and rest. Repeat as many rounds as you like. Our guides are nearby if you'd like a hand on your first visit.
How hot and cold does it get?
The sauna is kept around 180°F. The cold plunge is a built-in pool kept between 45 and 50°F, bracing but welcoming for every body.
Please note: These are target temperatures, not guarantees. Actual temperatures may vary with the season, the weather, how many guests are in a space, and how often doors open and close. How heat and cold feel also differs from person to person, so always listen to your body and step out whenever you need to.
Is it my first cold plunge? Any tips?
Start with 30 seconds to a minute, breathe slowly, and ease in rather than jumping. You won't be alone: guides are on-site if you'd like support.
Can I eat or drink in the bathhouse?
No food is allowed on site, apart from the Turkish delights served in our tea lounge. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated (no glass, please), and enjoy the complimentary tea included with every visit.
Our recommendation: Avoid eating a heavy meal right before your visit. Heat and cold work best on a light stomach, so plan to finish eating at least an hour or two beforehand.
Can I bring my phone?
Samsara is a strictly technology-free space. Phones, smartwatches, cameras, tablets, and headphones stay in your locker for the whole visit, and photos and video are not allowed anywhere in the bathhouse, out of respect for every guest's privacy. The only exception is a special event, where any photography is arranged with our team in advance.
We think you'll love it. Without notifications and screens, the conversation slows down, the breath gets deeper, and you get to be fully here and connect with the people around you, in real life.
Can I talk and socialize?
Absolutely. Samsara was made for gathering, so we hope you'll connect with friends and meet new people here. We also want the space to stay calm and restful, so we welcome easy, quiet conversation and ask that things never get loud or rowdy enough to disturb guests who are there to unwind. During quiet hours, we keep conversation to a minimum.
How do we share the space?
Everyone who walks through our doors helps shape the experience, so we ask every guest to bring kindness and awareness with them. Make room for others in the pools and benches, keep your voice soft, and be mindful of how your energy lands on the people around you. There's no competition here: no one is timing how long you last in the heat or cold. We're building a community of care, where people can explore, rest, and feel good alongside one another, and we hope you'll help us protect it.
Is alcohol allowed?
No. Samsara BathHouse is an alcohol- and drug-free space.
Premium experiences
What is the Turkish hammam scrub?
Turkish Hammam Scrub · 30 minutes
A bathing ritual passed down through centuries. Come early and spend time in the thermal pool and steam room first, so your body is warm and your skin is soft and ready. Your hammam attendant then works over your whole body with a traditional kese mitt to lift away dead skin, wraps you in billowing warm soap foam, and finishes with a gentle wash, a relaxing massage, and a cool, refreshing rinse.
You'll leave feeling deeply clean, silky smooth, and renewed. Enjoy it on your own, or book a double scrub to share the ritual with a partner.
Can I book the hammam scrub the day of my visit?
If space allows, yes, but we recommend booking it in advance.
What is the tea lounge?
A premium tea service with Turkish delights in our tea lounge, a slow, quiet way to end your visit. Pricing will be announced before opening. Complimentary tea is still included with every visit.
